Belt misalignment switches are used on conveyor belts to minimize the risk of damage or destruction of the belt due to belt tracking deviations. Belt misalignment switches type ET-4/1-L as well as ET4/1-L32 are designed for use along smaller conveyor belts. They are arranged in pairs, to the left and right of the conveyor belt. In case of a track deviation of the belt from the intended path, a roller lever of these switches is contacted by the flank of the belt and displaced against the force of an internal spring. Switching occurs at a deflection angle of 25°. The maximum deflection of the roller lever is 55°. When the belt is returned to its path, the roller lever follows this movement and switches back again at a deflection angle of about 16°.... For ease of installation, the roller lever can be mounted at any angle.
These switches are equipped with a normally closed contact with positive opening and a normally open contact. Both contacts switch simultaneously with snap-action characteristics, i.e. they do not switch creepingly but abruptly when the misalignment slowly increases. Each contact has a switching capacity of 240 VAC 6A or 24 VDC 5 mA up to 10 A.
The roller of the roller lever is slide-mounted on a stainless steel axle. It is made of polyamide with graphite parts. Due to the graphite, the durability of this roller is much higher than white polyamide without graphite. The diameter of this roller is either 20mm or 32mm. The thinner roller shows its advantages in very tight spaces. The 32mm roller has the advantage of lower rotational speed. Both rollers, especially the thicker one, have the advantage over comparable products of other manufacturers of the largest possible ratio of outer diameter to axle diameter. This largest ratio results in a small "breakaway torque". It is important for the free rotation of the roller if it gets stuck after a long downtime due to dust, dirt or ice. Otherwise, the outside of the roller would be abraded by the belt flank.
The sturdy housing is made of die-cast aluminum and has IP 67 protection.
